Although the winter rush is over it is by no means quiet here
Once the lifts have closed at the end of the winter season, the sun continues to shine and the snow melts. The place transforms into a spring meadow full of lush green grass covered with a rainbow of wild flowers, broken only by the many waterfalls and rivers.
The Abondance cows who have been kept in the barns over winter are realised into the fields and fresh air - they're everywhere - and the sound of cow bells ring out over the valley.
This is an ideal time for walkers as it's the best time to view the waterfalls and flowers all around the mountains. The higher you climb the cooler the air and still there is still the chance to find snow and use snowshoes.
For adrenalin filled people into river sports it is also a brilliant time. The River Dranse is fast flowing as all the snow melt runs downs the mountains and collects in the river.
As well, a perfect time for road cycling before the temperature reaches the high summer levels.
